Let’s Talk About Perimenopause Symptoms

Is it just me, or is everything weird now?


You feel a bit off. Your sleep's gone rogue, your moods are doing cartwheels, your memory’s… wait, what were we talking about again? You’re not imagining it. This is our new friend perimenopause showing up. You might as well get to know her, as she's most likely going to be in our lives for a while.


So here's the thing, perimenopause symptoms aren’t random. They’re signals. Clues. Your body’s way of saying, “Things are shifting. Pay attention"


Let's get into it.


At the heart of it all? Hormones. As you move through perimenopause, into menopause and beyond, your estrogen and progesterone start to decline. But they're going down fighting! Think rollercoaster rather than a straight run down a steep hill. Because of this there is often a chaotic and unpredictable side to this phase which is what has got us all second guessing ourselves and quite honestly feeling a bit crazy. It's because these hormones don’t just manage our periods, they affect every system in our body: brain, skin, sleep, gut health, muscles, metabolism, mood.


It's also causing us to wake up and pay attention, not only to what is going on in our bodies, but in our lives too. No more Little Miss People Pleaser!


A (Non-Exhaustive) List of Things That Might Feel Totally Different


Hot flashes and night sweats (sweaty + shivery = fun times)

  • Sleep going totally haywire

  • Mood swings, anxiety, irritability, tears out of nowhere

  • Brain fog (yes, it’s real)

  • Low energy or feeling flat

  • Vaginal dryness and discomfort

  • More frequent peeing or urgency

  • Achy joints or sore muscles

  • Weight creeping up around your mid-section without changing a thing

  • Changes in hair, skin, nails

  • A sudden desire to be left alone on a beach with no responsibilities!


You might have one. Or five. Or none. Or all. There’s no single version of menopause, there is only your version.

Estrogen has a hand in loads of systems in your body, temperature control, memory, mood, skin elasticity, bone density, sleep cycles. So when it starts dropping, everything that relied on it has to recalibrate. And your body? It’s doing its best. But sometimes it needs a little help. Understanding, support, a plan, and some space to figure things out.


Can You Do Anything About It?

Yes. A thousand times yes!

There’s no “fix it fast” trick. But there is a powerful toolkit. Think of it like tuning into your body’s new rhythm and learning how to move with it, not against it.
